Ivan Di Federico Appointed President and CEO of Topcon Positioning Systems

LIVERMORE, Calif., August 19, 2024 (BUSINESS WATCH GLOBAL)Topcon Positioning Systems has announced the upcoming retirement of Ray O’Connor, its current president and chief executive officer, scheduled for September 2025. O’Connor, who has led the company for over three decades, will transition to the role of Chairman of the Topcon Positioning Systems Board of Directors effective September 1, 2024. This move is part of a broader leadership transition at the company.

Ivan Di Federico, who currently holds the position of executive vice president and chief strategy officer at Topcon Positioning Systems, has been appointed to succeed O’Connor as president and CEO. Di Federico will officially assume his new role on September 1, 2024, after two decades with the company.

Reflecting on his tenure, O’Connor stated, "It has been a true privilege to lead Topcon Positioning Systems for the past three decades and witness the incredible growth and evolution of the company." He expressed confidence in Di Federico’s ability to lead the company, citing his "deep technical expertise, strategic vision, and proven track record of driving innovation."

According to the company, under O’Connor’s leadership, Topcon Positioning Systems experienced significant growth, expanding into new markets and product lines. His contributions included overseeing key acquisitions and advancing the company's presence in GNSS, machine automation, and global positioning software for the construction and precision agriculture sectors.

Di Federico acknowledged O’Connor’s impact on the industry, saying, "Ray has made significant contributions to the global positioning industry through his many patents, inspired by his product vision and application experience." He added, "I am honored to succeed him as president and CEO of Topcon Positioning Systems."

In addition to the leadership changes, Topcon announced that Philip Thach will be promoted to executive vice president (EVP) chief operating officer and EVP chief financial officer, effective September 1, 2024.
