PASADENA, Calif., September 25, 2024 (BUSINESS WATCH GLOBAL) - IHOP has announced that Jay Johns, President of the company, will retire after 16 years with Dine Brands and nearly six years as President of the popular family dining chain. Johns will step down on January 6, 2025, and will remain in an advisory role until March 2025. Lawrence Kim, who previously served as Chief Innovation Officer at YUM! Brands, has been appointed as President Designee, effective October 21, 2024. Kim will assume the role of IHOP President upon Johns' departure.

Reflecting on his time at IHOP, Johns said, "It has been an honor to lead IHOP and work alongside the hardest working team and franchisees in the industry. I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together, and I have every confidence that Lawrence Kim will continue to drive the brand forward with passion and vision."

During his tenure, Johns guided IHOP through notable changes, including the challenges posed by the pandemic. Under his leadership, the chain introduced curbside pickup, delivery options, and expanded off-premise dining services. Johns also oversaw a digital transformation for the company, launching IHOP's loyalty program and expanding menu offerings to include items such as Eggs Benedict and Gourmet Burgers.

Kim, who will take over as President, brings over 20 years of experience in leadership roles within the restaurant and consumer sectors, including his work with Taco Bell and Samsung.

"Stepping into the leadership role of this iconic brand is a true privilege. "I have cherished memories of dining at IHOP with family and friends, and I'm thrilled to join this exceptional team", said Kim.
